Second Week of June 2012

A bit of a slower week... vacation bible school, safety town and vacations going on... so we didn't do as much as I would have liked to and it looks like next week will be even slower.

My older readers worked on Explode the Code Book 1 and sight words.  I didn't take pictures of the Explode the Code work but did take pictures of the sight word book.

 We used 1+1+1=1, You Can Read program for these two pages. 

 I used the ideas posted on Moffatt Girls, Ready2Read program for these two pages.

My other children worked on letters Aa and Bb.

 We finished up Aa with these activity papers.

 And we started Bb with these activity sheets.

And my tots started this Bb book.

We dot markered a letter Bb for the cover from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

 We put butterflies together with upper and lowercase Bb's from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

 We worked on our outdoor toy vocabulary with this from 1+1+1=1.

 We put dot markers on letter Bb's on the ball from 1+1+1=1.

 We found the pictures with clues and colored them according to directions at 1+1+1=1.



We colored balls according to the colored color word from 1+1+1=1.

And we worked on our Wild West Books.

We talked about how cowboys use horses and we matched front end (already glued) to back end horses with upper and lowercase letters.

 We talked about a horses shoes vs. our shoes and we did this activity sheet from Preschool Palace.

 We made horses...

 And here they are.

And we made some Father's Day gifts...

 We colored trophies and put them on a black big envelope.

 We filled out a Dad Questionairre and drew a picture of Dad on the back.

And we made a handprint poem picture.

First Week of June 2012

Hello Everyone! Summer starts and this week Friday is the last day for my own kids. Ahhhh... I love summer! We will be slowing down some on our learning time in the daycare in order to spend more time outdoors... but we will still be doing some learning time.

My summer plan: Well I'm still a little unsure and will be rethinking it this weekend. I have some children who are very ready to move on and read, some I am unsure of, and others that we will continue learning letters. So with that my readers will be reading, the unknowns I'm not sure yet, and the young ones will get more letters. I will either do a theme of learning or a state during the month... first two weeks I'm thinking a theme and the last weeks completing state studies. Sketchy I know but it will hopefully just fall together like it always does.
So our first week of summer...

My older readers worked on the book Explode the Code and here is a sampling of their work.

We also did sight word practice using 1+1+1=1 sight word pack 4

Here is the cover that I normally print in color but

goofed and left it.

We colored in and then printed all of our sight words we've learned so far. Then we read them.

We traced each sight word, traced over the dotted line, and traced each sight word again as we read them on top. On the bottom we followed the code and circled each sight word according to color.

We used the code to color each book that contained a sight word a set color. Then on the bottom we found our sight words in a puzzle.

We dot markered the letter Aa from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

We put together ants by shape and color from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

We listened to clues to find pictures/letters and colored them according to direction from 1+1+1=1.

We put together apples by color from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

We dot markered Aa's from 1+1+1=1.

We colored apples according to the color word in each apple from 1+1+1=1.

We did a pre-writing activity from 1+1+1=1.

We glued color pictures that matched grayscale pictures from 1+1+1=1.

We also started our Western/Cowboy Unit.

We worked on the cover of our Western/Cowboy Unit Book. The boys had a cowboy and the girls had a cowgirl. I only took a picture of the cowboy front though.

We made cowboy/cowgirl hats.

We matched western/cowboy words and pictures. This activity was from Homeschool Creations Cowboy Theme Pack.

We did a prewriting activity in which we traced the dotted line from the cowboy to his horse and we sorted boots by size. These activities were from Homeschool Creations Cowboy Theme Pack. We also colored the boots that had more... the older children first counted the dots in each boot and wrote how many. We also waterpainted a boot and dictated to finish this sentence... "These boots were made for ____."

We matched lassos of dots to lassos of numbers. This was a file folder game I had in my files.

We talked about the coyote. We did a fact paper while discussing some of the features of the coyote. We howled to the moon and found out that coyotes do this to mark their territory. We matched coyote to color words (for older children) and colors (for younger children). And we fingerpainted a coyote using brown and white paint... on Monday we will finish the coyote but I'm not sure what we will do with them at this point.
