Second week in Feb. 2012

Our second week in February doesn't look like we did as much as normal... but it didn't feel like it while we were doing it.

Here is what we did...
We learned about the letter Pp and did our Letter Pp Book.  I have both the older children books and the tot ones too.

Letter Pp Book
This is the cover.  We colored the letter Pp's and colored the pig.

On the left we put together three-piece letter puzzles and colored the pigs with  letter Pp's.  On
the right we found the one that was different and did a pre-writing activity both from
"Get Set for the Code".

On the left we circled letters like the one in the box at the beginning of each row and we
colored the Pp's in the pear from "Get Set for the Code".  On the right we did a letter hunt from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

On the left we listened to clues to find the picture and then colored them according to the
directions and we drew a line from the p in the middle of the pig to each object that
begins with the /p/ sound.  On the right we colored each picture that begins with the /p/
sound and traced letter Pp's.  Most of these came from "Get Set for the Code".

On the left we drew a circle around the letter the picture next to began with and we traced
letter Pp's.  On the right we colored all the pictures that began with the /p/ sound and
wrote a p under each picture we colored and we traced/printed Pp's.  Most of these came from
"Get Set for the Code".

On the left we said the name of the picture in each triangle and circled the letter it began with
at one of the corners of the triangle from "Get Set for the Code" and we traced/printed letter Pp's.  On the right we said each picture name and printed the lowercase letter it begins with.

Tot Letter Pp Book
On the left we colored the letter Pp's and found and colored the pictures according to
directions from 1+1+1=1.  On the right we used dot markers to fill in the circles. You can find
this printable here.

On the left we used dot markers to make the letter Pp from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
On the right we found the letter Pp's in the pencil from 1+1+1=1.

On the left we did a pre-writing practice page from 1+1+1=1.  On the right we
traced letter Pp's from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

On the left we matched grayscale pictures to colored pictures and on the right
we matched shapes.  Both from 1+1+1=1.

For dental health this week we talked about brushing our teeth.  We made these big smiles by glueing the teeth into the smile.  I found this idea here.  You can download my printable here.

We sorted food that are good for our teeth and not so good for our teeth.  You can
find this printable here and here.

We also did some Valentine's Day activities.

We colored the big hearts purple and the small hearts red and then
created a pattern out of them.

We found hearts and colored them pink.

We colored the border of a heart and then glued squares of red paper to the center
creating a mosiac.  I forgot to take a picture of the the finished project but here we
are busy at work.

We slowly made an emergent reader focusing on color words.  Here are a few
pages.

We matched hearts.

We did a counting and number recognition activity.  And I did it again... no idea where
I got this one.

Graphing from Homeschool Creations pre-k pack.

Patterning from Homeschool Creations.

And my tot did a few other things too.

Well... that about sums up the week.  Hope you enjoyed.
Best,
Rose
